La Corte costituzionale e la sua comunicazione
QUADERNI COSTITUZIONALI, 2023The Italian Constitutional Court and its Communication. Starting from 2017, the Italian Constitutional Court has been deploying a great effort in strengthening its communication techniques. Communication is conceived as bi-directional: the current Court is more willing to listen and, at the same time, to speak to other institutional actors and the general public. This article, authored by a current member of the Court, gives an overview of the many different ways the Court listens to the voices of the parties involved in the cases and other stakeholders having an interest in its decisions, and illustrates the communication practices put in place by the Court to make its voice heard by other institutions and the public. Several objections and criticisms that have been raised by law scholars against these practices are examined and discussed. Ultimately, this article argues that engaging in such multi-faceted dialogue is essential to foster public trust towards the Court and its crucial role in ensuring proper checks and balances within a democratic society.
