Professor Marta Cartabia’ Keynote Speech at at New York University Law’s 2023 Convocation

On May 18, 2023, at NYU Law’s 2023 Convocation, the ceremony for the LLMs and other graduate degrees, Prof. Marta Cartabia gave the graduating JD class her keynote speech. The official ceremony for the NYU Law Class of 2023 was held at the Theater at Medison Square Garden. Prof. Cartabia’s speech was preceded by Sherrilyn Ifill (NYU School of Law, Class’ 87), president and director-counsel emeritus of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF), who addressed the graduating JD class. In April 2018, Prof. Marta Cartabia, then Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Italy, gave at the NYU School of law the Thirteenth Annual Emile Noël Lecture on the State of the (European) Union, titled “The clash of Titans: The European Court of Justice and National Constitutional Courts”. The lecture was held in the format of a Fireside Chat between Prof. Cartabia and J.H.H. Weiler, University Professor and Director of The Jean Monnet Center.
