I am a postdoctoral researcher in public international law working with Prof. Roger O’Keefe. I graduated with a Bachelor in Literature (2007), a Bachelor and a Master in Law (2012) from the University of Florence, followed by a master in international law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (2015) and a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Milan (2016). I obtained the Italian national habilitation as Associate Professor of International law in 2022.

In 2022 I was awarded the annual prize of the Italian Society of International Law (Premio SIDI) for the article 'The Notion of Institutional Practice in United Nations Law' (2021) 24 Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law 3. Available here.

About

Previously, I was research associate at University College London, working with Dr Ralph Wilde on his project "Human Rights Beyond Borders", and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, working with Professor Jan Klabbers on his project "Towards a Credible Ethics for Global Governance". I held visiting positions at the centre of excellence iCourts (University of Copenhagen) and at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.

Research interests

I am a generalist public international lawyer with a specific expertise on the law of international organizations. I have also worked on a variety of specialised areas, such as human rights law, international responsibility, the law of treaties and the sources of international law. My other areas of interest are legal theory and the study of the different approaches to international law. I am a junior editor of the Oxford database on the law of international organizations and convener of the interest group on the law of international organizations of the European Society of International Law.
